Mayhewianism #3

"I came of age intellectually during the apogee of Derrida in the American academy, so I know this theory better than you. If you try this argument with me I will crush you."

(A "mayhewianism" is an expression that is characteristic of Jonathan Mayhew's exemplary scholarly persona. Ideally, it is something actually written by Prof. Mayhew.)

Leaving open the possibility that someone else could come up with a Mayhewianism?

Yes. Sort of like all those pithy remarks that are attributed to Oscar Wilde whether he actually said them or not. There is a sense in which the attribution isn't always altogether wrong.

I liked that one, too! Definitely very Mayhewesque.
